Milford sits on I-495 with a lot of trade businesses working out of it, and highway-adjacent yards get visited at night. That is most of what we install here.
A fenced yard with trailers, machines and material in it is the highest-value thing we cover in this town, and it is the one most often protected by a single camera under a floodlight that produces nothing usable. The design that works is layered. A camera at the gate mounted low enough and close enough to read a plate, wider cameras covering the yard itself for context and movement, and a PTZ where the area is too large for fixed lenses. Plate identification and area coverage are two different jobs and one camera does not do both.
Milford's downtown has the usual independent retail and restaurant mix, and the usual pattern: entrance, register, rear door. Older buildings mean cable paths take longer than people expect, which we account for in the quote instead of discovering on the day.

Usually PoE solves it — the same cable carries power and video, so we only need to reach the recorder, not a nearby outlet. Where even that is impractical, solar-powered wire-free cameras cover the gap, though we keep those off the plate-reading position because of the wake-up delay.
